Myanmar Anti-Corruption Commission started the UNCAC implementation review process for first cycle in May 2015. After having done with the self-assessment checklist, the desk review took place. Comments from 2 reviewing states parties- Thailand and Burundi and UNODC secretariat were responded by ACC Myanmar in coordination with relevant government departments and the private sector.
Myanmar’s country review report, which was prepared by the reviewers and UNODC secretariat was thoroughly discussed during the country visit in July 2016. The country visit was held successfully taken place in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Deliberations between the two sides went very effectively and smoothly. Delegates from UNODC, Thailand and Burundi, commissioners of Anti-Corruption Commission and officials, senior officials from respective Union Ministries and private sector participated in the meeting. The executive summary (draft) of the Country Review Report is in its finalization stage and expected to be completed before the end of 2016.
Myanmar, as one reviewing state party for Cambodia, took part in Cambodia’s Country Review Report process.
